ALEPPO SOAP

It is a traditional syrian soap originating from the city Aleppo, where for more than 2,000 years it has been Made by hand by its residents. Its composition is a combination of bay oil and olive oil. Since the very beginning of soap, its composition has remained the same. The soap is also called olive-laurel soap or simply Aleppo. Invented by the Phoenicians, was one of the first soaps in history. It is often referred to as "the mother of all soaps". It is created based on a centuries-old recipe passed down from generation to generation, was known only to Syrians for hundreds of years, and came to Europe during the Crusades probably in the 11th century.

Production begins with the first olive harvest and lasts for several months. A soapy mixture with olive oil is created and boiled for a couple of days. Before the end of saponification, laurel oil is added. The deposits are drained from the cauldron, and the resulting concoction is rinsed with water for a long time. To let the water fully evaporate and the mass cool down, it is left overnight. The soap is spread on sheets of paper and left to harden, then cut into pieces. The green cubes are arranged in columns to ensure air circulation, and left to cure. Soaps mature over many months - During this time, each piece dries, visibly hardens and changes its color to sand, while remaining green inside.

Due to the long maturation period, the resulting soap is very hard. Thanks to a process that has been unchanged for years Aleppo is a natural product of very high quality.
